Fireplace – Maintenance & Remote Installation Performed a full maintenance and cleaning on the fireplace. The wall switch was intermittently controlling the unit, so I offered a remote control installation and the client agreed. Installed the new remote kit and tested operation. The fan is on its own switch and I explained how to use both controls. Fireplace is operating normally.

Fireplace Service – Not Operating Work Performed: - Responded for a fireplace not operating. Client reported intermittent wall switch issues and that the flame and pilot had gone out previously after about 30 minutes. - Found the gas valve knob set to “Pilot” instead of “On.” Switched the valve to the On position. - Wall switch is no longer controlling the fireplace. Located the toggle switch below the unit, which operates the fireplace normally. - Tested the pilot assembly and thermocouple/thermopile under both load and standby; readings were in a good range. - Ran the fireplace and monitored draft; venting is drafting properly with no blockage or backdraft concerns. - Fireplace operated steadily during testing with no flame drop-out. Recommendations: - If the pilot goes out again, recommend replacing the pilot assembly as the next step. - Client declined a remote kit at this time and will continue using the toggle switch. - Optional: A blower can be added in the future; electrical

Carrier AC repair call. Refrigerant levels are good. Cleared blockage in AC drain. Customer was experiencing poor cooling and leaking water. Filter that was installed when they moved into the house was very dirty and severely restricting airflow. Work Performed Responded to a no cooling call where the client reported no air conditioning all weekend. They tried turning the cooling on again the night before my visit, and it seemed to start working. Upon arrival, I found that both the heating and cooling were running at the same time. After troubleshooting, I traced the issue to a stuck relay, which was causing the heating contactor to intermittently activate even when there was a call for cooling. This caused warm air to blow through the vents and prevented proper cooling. I also discovered that the boiler and hot water tank were not operating properly. The boiler was cold to the touch and was stuck in an ignition loop, repeatedly trying to restart. It eventually fired up just before I left. This home uses a high-velocity air handler that works with a boiler-fed coil for heating. Since the boiler wasn’t providing hot water to that coil, the heat side effectively shut down — which may be why the cooling finally started working
